Advanced Wheel Classes

Advanced classes are currently being held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.  Each session runs for 8 weeks.  The price for an 8 week session is $200, which includes instruction, glazes, use of all equipment, firings, and open studio time. There is a $20 materials fee for 25Lbs of clay.
We are  fortunate to have master potter David Norton teaching our advanced pottery classes here at the Old Furniture Factory.  David is an internationally recognized potter who has been creating pots for over 30 years.  He shares his wealth of knowledge and experience with his students in the Tuesday evening classes.  Learn more about David at his website - http://www.davidnortonpottery.com/.  Disciplines covered throughout his class include:

Beginner and Intermediate Wheel Classes

Monday and Thursday night Beginner and Intermediate Classes are being team taught by Pat Miller and Bruce Bucklin.  Between them, they have over 10 years experience.  Feel free to visit Bruce and Pat at their website http://www.16pawspottery.com  These classes are designed for an experience level starting with someone who has never even touched clay before all the way to those who have some basic wheel throwing and/or hand building skills. Classes are held 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.  Each session runs for 8 weeks.  The price for an 8 week session is $200, which includes instruction, glazes, use of all equipment, firings, and open studio time. There is a $20 materials fee for 25 lbs. of clay.  Skills developed in the Beginner and Intermediate Classes include:

  • Wedging Clay
  • Centering on the Wheel
  • Basic Pulling Techniques
  • Making the Perfect Cylinder
  • Slab Rolling and Hand Building
  • Glazing Choices 

Beginner and Intermediate Wheel/Handbuilding Classes

Monday morning Beginner and Intermediate Classes are being taught by Amy Manson. Amy is a Leesburg, VA resident and has been a studio ceramic artist for 8 years, studying at Penland School of Craft, Odyssey Center for Ceramic Art, and Charlotte Clayworks. She teaches adult wheel, handbuilding and combo classes as well as children's classes. Classes are held 9:00 - 11:30am.  Each session runs for 8 weeks.  The price for an 8 week session is $200, which includes instruction, glazes, use of all equipment, firings, and open studio time. There is a $20 materials fee for 25 lbs. of clay.  Skills developed in the Beginner and Intermediate Classes include:
